Obsidian Spotlight: Dustin Hall

Writer's picture: Ashley ThackerAshley Thacker

Dustin Hall currently lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife of 21+ years and two boys ages 10 and 14. He is originally from Denver, Colorado but has been fortunate to live in various places around the world.  The Air Force allowed them the opportunity to live in Nebraska, Texas, Florida, England, Germany, California and Washington D.C. He also spent a year in Kabul, Afghanistan.  Embracing and appreciating other cultures is huge for his family and they are thankful they’ve been able to do that.

  1. What is your role at Obsidian? How long have you been here?  - G/TIMS Program Manager  - I have been w/ Obsidian in some capacity for 1 year.  However, I have been full-time W2 on the G/TIMS program since January 2024

  1. What has been one of your proudest moments while working with Obsidian?  - Being part of the process to build out the 100+ FTEs on the G/TIMS contract.  Getting the team building and organizational design correct is critical to success and Obsidian absolutely included me every step of the way.

  1. What's one thing you learned last year?  - I have had to learn how to slow down.  After 27+ years in the Air Force, I am wired to constantly be on the move.  The biggest thing I have tried to take away from the last 12 months is to be more present in the now.  Not to worry too much about always getting something done.  I still have plenty of work to do in this area.

  1. What is the last book you read? Would you recommend it?  - The Five Dysfunctions of a Team – Patrick Lencioni  - Absolutely recommend!  - Also, anything by Ryan Holiday

  1. What is your favorite way to spend the weekend?  - Anything outdoors with the family  - Kids’ sports  - Golf  - Skiing  - Hiking  - Traveling
